3 types of content every doctor should be posting

Posting consistently isn't the same as having a content strategy.

A strong medical marketing strategy doesn't require you to post every day or constantly come up with something new. It requires your content to do different jobs.

Some content gets you discovered. Some builds trust. And some helps a potential patient feel confident enough to take the next step. If every post is trying to do the same thing, you're leaving gaps in your patient journey.

Here are the three types of content every doctor should have in their strategy:

Get Discovered

Content designed to put you in front of the right people.

Not every potential patient is actively looking for a doctor today. Some are simply learning about a condition. Others are researching a treatment. Some don't even know yet that they need the type of care you provide. This is where discovery content comes in. The goal isn't to sell or ask someone to book an appointment.

It's to create awareness, spark interest, and make your expertise discoverable.

Your goal: Get in front of the right people before they're ready to choose a doctor.

Build Trust

Content that gives potential patients a reason to believe in you.

Being discovered is only the first step. Once someone finds your practice, they're going to evaluate you. They want to understand your expertise, your approach, your experience, and what makes you different from the other doctors they're considering. This is where trust-building content matters.

Show people how you think and how you work, not just what you do.

Your goal: Help potential patients understand why you’re the right doctor for them.

Help Them Choose You

Content that gives interested patients the confidence to take the next step.

At this point, they're no longer just discovering you. They're evaluating their options. This is where your content needs to help answer the question: “Why should I choose this doctor?”

Your expertise, experience, results, approach, and the patient experience should come together to make that decision easier.

Your goal: Remove uncertainty and give the right patient enough confidence to take the next step.

But here's the important part

You don't need three separate content calendars. These three types of content should work together. A patient might discover you through an educational post. Then they visit your profile and find content that establishes your expertise. Later, they see a case study or learn more about your approach, and finally feel ready to reach out. That's a strategy. Not just a feed full of posts.

You don't have to figure it all out on your own
